Background & Overview:     

 

DSC New Mexico recognizes that the role of wildlife management decisions is most appropriately administered and determined by the professional staff at NMDGF and the NMDGF Commission. However, recently more and more wildlife management decisions are being taken up by elected officials at the state legislature.  While the legislature can play a role in the administration of NMDGF, wildlife management should be led by science and professional biologists rather than the court of public opinion that is most often present at the capitol. As such, it is paramount that we, the collective sportsmen and women community, engage in the legislative process and provide our input to ensure that all legislative decision are being guided by sound science based wildlife management and with an eye towards putting the resource first.
